In Hipsterland

image

image

Oh Dalston, I love thee
And your artisanal bakeries, 3 quid for a cup of tea
Your yummy mummies pushing bugaboos
Slowly priced out of Shoreditch, occuping your streets
Black people on the tube silently mocking your hipsters
Hair dye, blue eyed, wearing Urban Outfitters
But the joke is on them, they can’t afford to remain

Crowding your bedsits is the new younghood
Gentrifying the shit out of this neighbourhood
Organic and sustainable, if you can afford to be charitable
Vegan, local and somewhat guilty-free
It’s so nice to live here, such diversity
Though we don’t really mix with the minorities
We’re all sharing this postcode, so we’re all family
Dalston, you've changed,
but the only thing not lost around here
Is the irony.
